United Nations Simulation Conference


The PUNSC is an annual conference hosted by Peevees group of Schools, K.SA .On 29th November, 2014, the 4th Peevees United Nations Simulation Conference 2014 –Finals was conducted in Al Yasmin International School, Riyadh, K.S.A


The students, better known as "delegates” were the ambassadors of UN member states, represented different countries to debate current issues. Delegates from different schools representing the 12 countries, France, Italy, Russia, USA, Japan, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, China, Germany, South Africa and Portugal discussed over the global issues and gained valuable experience.  The theme for the conference was ‘Together for a better tomorrow.’ On the whole 40 students from Al Yasmin Int'l School- Boys and Girls Section, Riyadh,  Daratassalam Int'l Delhi Public School, Riyadh, International Indian Public School, Riyadh, Modern International School, Riyadh, Al Khozama International School-Boys and Girls Section, Dammam, Dunes International School, Dammam, International Indian School, Dammam, New Al Wurood International School-Boys and Girls Section, Jeddah and Jabal Farsan International School, Rabigh participated in the 4th Peevees United Nations Simulation Conference 2014 – Finals.


The programme started with the recitation of the Holy Quran. The dignitaries and the aspirants were welcomed by Mr.K.Rahamathullah, Principal of the host school and Chapter Convener, CBSE affiliated schools, K.S.A. The Chief Guest for the Conference was His Excellency Mr.Hussain Mohamed, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to K.S.A. accompanied by his spouse Mrs. Ayeshathul Muhriza Hussain Mohamed. The Special Guests of Honour were Mr. Barry McCaig, Safety Manager, Saudi Aviation Flight Academy, Riyadh, K.S.A and Mr. Ibrahim Subhan, Indian Official to International Energy Forum. The other Special Guests were Mr. Pious John, Principal of Al Alia International School, Dr. Shadma Ansari, Jabal Farsan International School, and Mr.Mohamed Haneef, Principal of Modern International School, Riyadh. From the Peevees family Mr. A.M. Ashraff, General Manager, Mr. S.M. Noushad, Group Manager, Mrs. S. Padmini, Academic Director and Mr.Gopinath Menon, Principal, Al Khozama International School, Dammam, were present to grace the occasion. Apart from special dignitaries, a panel of Judges was present to provide valuable feedback. The Judges were Mr.Abdul Bari, IISR, Mrs.Subaida, IISR, Mrs.Imrana, IISR.


The issues discussed at the conference were under two topics. ‘Environmental Issues and Economic Crises’ for General Assembly and ‘Health, Peace and Security for Security Council. The United Nations Simulation Conference was an authentic replica of the UN General Assembly.  The student delegates prepared the draft resolutions and strategies, negotiated with supporters and adversaries, resolved conflicts, and navigated the UN's rules of procedure-all in the interest of mobilizing "international cooperation" and to resolve problems that affect almost every country on Earth. Based on the Judges feedback, the winners were declared and prizes were distributed by the dignitaries who attended the conference.


The Overall Winner’s Trophy went to the host school, Al Yasmin International School-Boys Section, Riyadh, representing Australia and the 1st runner up trophy was bagged by Al Yasmin International School-Girls Section, Riyadh, representing Germany.  New Al Wurood International School- Boys Section, Jeddah representing Russia was declared as the 2nd runner up. The participants and the winners were awarded with certificates, medals and trophies as a token of appreciation.


It was really an honour for Al Yasmin International School to conduct such a successful and memorable event. Mr. Shimi Siby, Vice Principal, Al Yasmin Int'l School- Girls Section, Riyadh, proposed the vote of thanks. The entire school was lit up with vibrant colourful flags of different countries. The event brought radiance into the young minds of the future generation. The Conference formally came to an end with the Saudi National Anthem followed by the Indian National Anthem.

The conference provided an opportunity for our students to understand contemporary world issues and suggest feasible solutions.
