Al Yasmin hosts CBSE Central Region Inter School Debate Competition.


Inter School Debate competition for both Secondary and Senior Secondary Levels, for CBSE affiliated Schools Saudi Arabian Chapter was held at Al Yasmin International School Riyadh on 7th October, 2013 in the presence of the Chief Guest  Dr Mohammed Ahmed Badshah ,  Asst. Professor, King Saud University, Riyadh. The Principal of Al Yasmin Int’l School Mr. K Rahmathulla welcomed the gathering.

The High School debate topic was: “Compulsion of Parents to join some professional courses curbs the talents of their children”. This proposition was presented and well-argued by Al Yasmin participant Master Tarun Shaheed of Grade Ten, who opposed the motion and also bagged the trophy for the best speaker. In the second debate for senior secondary Level Ms. Arshia Mufti from International Indian School clinched the best speaker’s prize on the topic “Grading System is the most appropriate one for the proper assessment of students in the examinations” by showcasing her natural flair for arguments.

Master Shahal Basharath of New Middle East School Riyadh and Ms. Sharon Gigy of IISR came first runners up and second runners up correspondingly for the best speaker of Secondary level whereas Master John Jojy of IIPSR and Ms. Aishwarya Krishna Puranic of DPS Riyad of IISR secured first runners up and second runners up respectively for the best speaker of senior Secondary level.

The first three teams from Secondary Level [Al Yasmin International School, New Middle East International School, International Indian School , Riyadh] and from the Senior Secondary Level [ International Indian Public School , International Indian School  and Delhi Public School ] shall represent at the Inter-school Debate final round scheduled to be held on the 25th and 26 th of October.

The schools represented through the entire competition included Al Aliya International School, Delhi Public School, Yara International School, International Indian School, International Indian Public School, Modern International School, Al Yasmin International School, Riyadh and International Indian School Buraida.

The debaters displayed confidence and unflappability in presenting their arguments before an audience and a panel of Judges made up of The Toast Master Md Ebrahim, Mr. Muhammad Hussain (HOD Eng Dept Education, Srilankan School, Riyadh and Ms Nona Anggraeni (English Teacher, Indonesian Int’l School, Riyadh. Mr. Miraj Muhammed Khan the Principal of DPS who addressed in the prize distribution ceremony applauded the excellent standard of the debate competition and Mr. K.G Menon the Vice Principal Al Yasmin Int’l School Proposed Vote of thanks.
